No More Fear!
This past Sunday was awesome! We saw 11 people take a stand to follow Jesus with many others responding to the call to be free from ‘people pleasing’. How cool is that? I really love what Jesus is doing here at Cross Current.
This Sunday we are finishing up our ‘i Quit’ series. We will be tackling the issue of ‘Living in Fear’. If you yourself or someone...

Keep going!
Hey Cross Current-
10 days into the 30dayswithJesus - I pray this has been a great read for you. It is the bible for crying out loud, so how could it not be! I have enjoyed this immensely and I’m pumped up knowing that I am reading along with the CC family. We are all in this together! I am so proud of you for making this commitment. God’s word always accomplishes what it is set out...
Laziness and prayer go hand in hand
This is a repost from Pastor Perry Noble.
A few weeks ago I put out a tweet that said the following…
“Covering laziness in prayer is not a spiritual discipline.”
It was retweeted several times; however, there were also a few people who said that the statement was confusing and asked for an explanation. So here goes…
I believe that many people in the Body of Christ use prayer as an excuse...

Be a Bringer!
I saw this phrase in a blog and had to use it -be a bringer-. It is used to remind the church of their responsibility to be witnesses for Christ. Not only should we invite people who are far from God to come to church-we should bring them with us. We should do whatever we can to compel them. Because there is a great chance their life will be changed in the presence of Jesus Christ.
Of course,...
I'll be home for Christmas...
I’ll be home for Christmas, you can count on me…
Can you hear the music? You should be hearing it in your head right about now. The truth is that, yes I will be… sitting right in my living room enjoying some much desired time with my family- celebrating the birth of our savior.
Every so often, Christmas and New Years Day happen to fall on a Sunday, which creates some...

Jesus Qualifies You!
Three years ago (2008), my mom said a pretty powerful statement that I don’t think I’ll ever forget. I was just beginning as the new senior pastor at CrossCurrent. I was overwhelmed, nervous, a bit anxious, freaked out and yet so excited at the enormous potential and the possibilities that lied ahead for us at CC. I was sharing with her all that I was feeling and she just said this...
God does the qualifying!

Is Jesus amazing or what?
This series we are in right now- the Big and Little C- have got to be one of my favorites. I love preaching about the church and God’s heart for it. It fires me up in a huge way. Keeps the proper perspective of what this thing is all about. I’m still blown away at how much Jesus loves His bride and that I get to be a part of it. So cool! We have been hearing some incredible stories that are so...
The Locker Room
Sunday I shared a bit about how the Michigan Wolverines game Saturday was the tale of two halfs. The first half we got our butts kicked up and done the field. It was pretty bad to watch and quite frustrating! It was very apparent that our offense and our defense needed some serious help- we couldn’t do anything! But when they went into the locker room, they made some much needed adjustments...
Jesus loves His church- Do you?
Hey CC Family-
I Hope you’re rockin it out this week and enjoying life to fullest! Think about this, you’ll never get this day back again so live it full. We are opening up a new series this week called “The Big C” and we will be answering the questions
What is the church? What are the churches responsibilities? What are God’s plans for His church? What part does...

Too Legit to Quit!
What an awesome time this past Sunday at Cross Current. If you missed it, you can pick it up on the podcast or at CC. We are in the middle of our series “imanual” - the restoration of faith and trust in who God is. It has been heart wrenching as well as life changing! I’m convinced that not only does He love us, but He likes us!
This is just a couple of points from...

Serving Together- Honoring Each Other
This past week, we introduced our Going Orange (Volunteer Core Values).
Here they are: Serve Jesus, Honor each other, Own it, Love the Church!
Mature people are true team players. Just because you are on a team doesn’t make you a team player. Mature players are the ones who put it all out there for the team. They are the ones who sacrifice for the others. They can do it without needing the...

Hey CC!
Hey CC-
So fired up about what God is doing and where we are as a church. Just want you to know the Tracee and I love the CC family so much and pray that His plans and purposes continue to come alive in you, your families, and us as a church. In planning for Easter, here are a couple of thoughts I have had this week:
Easter is fast approaching and we are believing and expecting a more...

What Will You Compromise?
The other day I was asked a question by a friend and leader. He asked me “What are the things you would not compromise in life?” Of course, I rattled off a few of the easier and more obvious answers- but as I thought more about it, I thought of several more answers. Below are just 10 areas I won’t compromise.
I can’t and will not compromise the following:
1. My love...

Because I Want To:
I’m overwhelmed with God’s awesome love for me(us). His love knows no bounds. Covers all our crap. All our failures and successes. All our doubts. All our fears. His love still meets us in the lowest valleys and the highest mountains of our lives. It causes me to live life with a ‘want to” heartset rather than the ‘have to’ mindset. We hear so much about loving God with all our heart, mind...

Clearing out the cobwebs
Ever had that one place whether a closet, room, car or office that was in need of some serious cleaning or organizing? You know that area that just stares at you, laughing and calling your name. The one you keep putting off. That one project that when you think about it or even just look at it, just weighs you down and makes you feel like taking a nap! I think all of us have experienced it. What...
The Underdog!
I love rooting for the underdog. In fact, the times I cry the most is when the underdog wins in movies or even in real life. I love it when someone who has no business winning- wins! That’s why I love the Rocky series! Go ahead and laugh but you know after watching it, you went out and drank raw eggs and started working out like crazy! You probably only lasted three minutes, but at least you...
Am I Pregnant? Are You?
Ever felt the growing impatience for the things you see in your heart? Maybe it’s a vision, dream, ministry or business? Ever question if what you see is Gods plan or is it something you have made up in your mind? I imagine that most people have felt this at one time or another. I can tell you I have and still do. Several times over the years I have felt like a pregnant woman in the delivery...

Is Complete Forgiveness Possible? Pt 2
Forgiveness is a process:
In 1990, I was a freshman in college and God had been working on me regarding some hardened areas of my heart. As I was walking down the sidewalk, it was as if God was physically walking next to me- I was overwhelmed with His goodness. Before this, I was all smiles on the outside but bitter and angry on the inside. I can remember just sitting down on the curb and saying...

Is Complete Forgiveness Possible?
What about the uncle, boss, friend or even the person who violated and stole your innocence? What about yourself? What about the father or mother who abandoned you when you were small? What about that gossiper that keeps spreading lies and falsely accusing you? What about the drunk driver who crashed into the car that killed a loved one?
This list could go on and on but the question is- Is...

5 reason I love the bible!
The bible is pretty amazing! Its pretty cool that what has been written was actually given by God himself but yet men were written to write it. How cool is that!?!? This book has more interpretations and has stirred up more controversy than any other book. You don’t hear near as much discussion about the satanic bible- why? Because when God writes a book- it lasts and His word accomplishes...
Do You Suffer from Post Traumatic Faith Disorder?
We all go through rough patches- some worse than others. Some rough patches have lasted years. But with every rough patch, I have always seen God’s faithfulness and provision. Sometimes I saw it while in the season and sometimes it was after that season was complete. I was able to look back and see His hand with me the whole way. Either way. I have always been blown away by his...

The Church I See
Hey CC-
As I promised on Sunday, I am reposting this and asking you to stand with us,pray with us, and let’s begin a God kind of movement.
I see a church that is on the move and desires to see the Great Commission fulfilled.
I see a church that is loud in their praise and loud in their love!
I see a church that loves and serves down in the trenches with the compassion of Jesus- with no...

What is Holding You back?
I am passing on a post from Pastor Perry Noble. God has given you a dream, call or some kind of direction and I have met many people over the years that talk more than they act on it… they are still in the same place years later! Still talking about what they are going to do. Whether its health, financial freedom, relational, or spiritual- I want to encourage you to take a step toward your...
Our Journey Continues...
Hey CC-
As you may know, this Sunday will be our last service at McMorran Place. We have had an amazing summer together and God has shown himself faithful yet another time to us. So thankful! We saw many make commitments to follow Christ and lives are being changed! Unity is growing and the Wehearthiscity movement has been begun! Other cities are wanting to partner with us to create a kingdom...

Mid Way through!
We are now mid-way through our journey to the center of the city. Here are some things to keep in mind as we approach the last half of this journey.
* God is still in control and I am not! Pretty obvious! lol.
* God loves people way more than I ever could, but I am growing daily in my ablility to understand and demonstrate His love. A benevolent love!
* When He is my source in life, I (we) can...

We are here!
Yesterday was our first service at McMorran and it was rockin’! Happy belated Fathers Day
to those who weren’t able to make it. You rock and I encourage you all to listen to the message that Jeff White delivered! I especially loved all the baseball analogies.
What a great atmosphere of praise, powerful ministry time, a great team of volunteers, and a blast had by all the kids in...
Going Downtown Q&A's
As you probably already know, Cross Current will be heading downtown for the summer. We are pretty pumped about this adventure. Tracee and I are looking for some great things as we all pull together to advance God’s plans and purposes throughout the Blue Water area. Over the past couple of months, I have been asked some great questions about our journey to the center of the city. So I want...
Can we really be the answer to Jesus' prayer?
Our time at CC rocked yesterday! A little 70’s rock! Lives changed! A great graduating class! Decisions made! Jesus is definitely doing some pretty cool stuff. If you missed it, well then we missed you. We are taking a one week break from praying for our personal needs. What!?!?! Thats right- one week! Relax, He already knows what you have need of! Why are we doing this? We are focusing on...
Thoughts on Transition!
We must become like a child! We must change and become! This past Sunday was such a timely message for Cross Current! Pastor Michael delivered a great message on“Transition and Change”. We are definitely in another transition here at CC… but as I look back over the 18 years of being here, ‘When haven’t we been in transition?!? From the Church Street building to...
Grace Brings Change
Over the past several weeks, I have had the opportunity of talking with several people who are diving deeper into understanding the grace that God has given. These are people who have been in the church world for years and are now having an “AHA!” moment of how powerful His grace really is. As a pastor, I would love to say that I have it all figured out and know all there is to know about His...

Does faith really work?
I’ve been doing some thinking on the topic of Faith. Here are the four things we are covering in our current series: Faith= Action, Evidence, Trust, Hope. We need use our Faith to break that atmosphere (spirit) of discouraged and disappointed faith.
Where you are today doesn’t mean it is where you will be.
Quick thoughts:
- Life happens which means that people will happen which means that...
Have you lost the Joy?
I am so pumped about what God is doing in and through Cross Current and so thankful for the ones who made a personal commitments to Jesus. This is what it’s all about- changing lives. Here are some random thoughts about last Sundays topic- Does God take the Fun out it? Have you ever gone through a season when the Joy was just not there? Maybe your in that season now now or remember a time...

Speak Up!
Why does it seem we can be so quick to use our mouths to gossip, complain, point out a fault or even to talk about ourself in a negative way? I wonder what would happen if we as people were just as quick and spent a little more time speaking words that are filled with life, faith, hope, and expectation? Would our days be more fulfilling? Would we get more accomplished? Could we help more people...
The Church I See
I see a church that is mobile and desires to see the Great Commission fulfilled.
I see a church that is loud in their praise and loud in their love!
I see a church that loves and serves down in the trenches with the compassion of Jesus- with no strings attached!
I see a church that not only talks of grace, but lives it out in everyday life.

Treats Anyone?
The other day I felt brave and began the crazy journey to give our puppy ESPN (pronounced Espen) a haircut and nail trim. Normally we bring our dogs into the groomer, but I felt we could do it ourselves. The mere challenge of it makes me jump in with both feet and tackle this issue. Just to let you know- the first time I tried grooming our dog Samson, he ended up looking like a diseased, homeless...

Can We Be A Multigenerational Church?
Recently, we had friends over the house and they brought their awesome little boys. Within minutes of walking in the door, toys were everywhere, crackers were on the floor, and the TV switched from my show to the Nick Jr. Most of the focus and attention was on these cool little kids. We all sat around (including two teenagers) and watch a two-headed dinosaur cartoon-lol.
As I was watching this,...
