Do You Suffer from Post Traumatic Faith Disorder?

We all go through rough patches- some worse than others. Some rough patches have lasted years. But with every rough patch, I have always seen God’s faithfulness and provision. Sometimes I saw it while in the season and sometimes it was after that season was complete. I was able to look back and see His hand with me the whole way. Either way. I have always been blown away by his faithfulness!

Ya know, faith is easy when things are rockin’! Faith is easy when the promises of yesteryear are being fulfilled and you’re walking in it. Faith is easy when you have not yet walked through the waiting period for the fulfilled promise. But as you pursue the things God is asking you to do, you will encounter many things! And many times, our faith gets wounded and results in ‘Post Traumatic Faith Disorder’.

The bible says that “without faith it is impossible to please God’. Faith is challenging. It needs to be! If it was easy, then everyone would step out and do what God is leading them to do. But unfortunately not everyone does. And every now and then we need a little pick me up. Here are few questions as you think of your place of faith and the belief level in your asking.

  • What are you believing God for that is way beyond your capability?
  • Have you settled in to a complacent easy to believe for faith?
  • Is He still the God of impossibilites?
  • What is that idea, dream, or desire buried on the inside of you that God is trying to wake up? Notice I said trying.
  • Do you continually push it down when that thought or desire reappears?
  • Are you afraid to believe God for the impossible?
  • What are you praying for that causes other to scratch their head in awe?

In answering these, its easy to see that complacent faith has been allowed to abide with you way too long. Maybe life has got the best of ya. Maybe your focus is too much on the past.  Maybe you have been through so many disappointments that you are living in a ‘Post Traumatic Faith Syndrome”. This is a scary place to live and will affect every area of your life- where your living is not living at all!

This Sunday we are continuing our ‘F-Bomb’ series. We are tackling this ‘Post Traumatic Faith Syndrome’. I am asking God to let us see again or for the first time- his plans and purposes for our lives and CC . There must be bigger! There must be More! And there is… but it comes by the way of hearing what He is saying, believing it, and moving out in faith because faith is Verb!
