Can We Be A Multigenerational Church?
Recently, we had friends over the house and they brought their awesome little boys. Within minutes of walking in the door, toys were everywhere, crackers were on the floor, and the TV switched from my show to the Nick Jr. Most of the focus and attention was on these cool little kids. We all sat around (including two teenagers) and watch a two-headed dinosaur cartoon-lol.
As I was watching this, it became obvious that the atmosphere was being set to minister or connect with the youngest in the room. It was all about the little ones. We were all different generations but with a purpose of loving these little guys, creating an environment that they felt at home in and enjoyed. In return, this brought much joy in Tracee’s and my heart as we were able to create this environment. One of these little ones had the nerve to sit in my seat! What is up with that!!
For a brief moment, God began to show me a picture of CC and how this can work wonders for impacting individuals and families throughout our community.
We believe that we are called to be a multi-generational church.
We believe it takes multi generations to be what God desires a body to be.
A healthy church is one who has people of ALL generations uniquely expressing who they are in Jesus. This means both in natural age as well as spiritual age. I am a firm believer that if you have breath – then you are unique and have an expression that is needed and wanted. I love it when I look across CC and see people from all ages ministering to one another and to the Lord.
3 things we should see:
- New people coming into the kingdom
- People maturing in their walk with the Lord
- Mature people training and helping to bring the younger people up in the things of God
A pretty powerful picture if we can get it to properly function. Lets do what we can together to create an environment where the youngest can feel welcome and wanted by God and us.
